September 16, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin decried what he described as \u201ca crisis in the global security system,\u201d saying that Belarus can offer solutions to overcome it, as he addressed the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum in Beijing, the defense ministry\u2019s press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official cited the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, armed confrontations in the Middle East, intensifying military activity in the Asia-Pacific region and the progressive militarization of the Arctic, linking them to \u201ca profound transformation of the global order.\u201d A multipolar international system is taking shape and offering more balanced and attractive models of development, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chrenin called for moving beyond \u201cmutual accusations and seeking compromise\u201d to halt what he described as the world\u2019s drift toward global confrontation. Military alliances should focus on collective security rather than serving as tools to pressure other states, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official also said that modern armed forces should focus not only on defending the state but also on preventing conflicts. Key to stability in international relations is not a balance of military power but shared responsibility and mutual trust, he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum opened on September 15 and will last through September 17. Prior to forum, Chrenin had met with Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun to discuss closer military training ties with Beijing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
