September 21, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d has left for New York to take part in events of the \u201chigh-level segment\u201d of the UN General Assembly\u2019s 81st session, the ministry reported on September 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d will deliver a speech during the session. He is expected to attend the first round of consultations between Belarus, Russia, Iran, North Korea and Myanmar on a draft \u201cEurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century.\u201d He will also have bilateral meetings and \u201ctalks with the UN leadership\u201d and participate in \u201cthematic events\u201d on the sidelines of the high-level segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 20, Belarusian pro-democracy leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja left for New York to take part in UN General Assembly events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja announced plans to meet with various leaders to discuss efforts to secure the release of Belarus\u2019 political prisoners, support for Belarusians and Belarus\u2019 security and independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A ministerial event will be held on the sidelines in New York on September 21 to discuss threats that regime in Belarus poses to regional and international security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will also focus on Belarus\u2019 role in Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine, evolving security implications of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka regime\u2019s policies, including the use of transnational repression against exiled Belarusians and hybrid threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kajsa Ollongren, secretary general of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Bra\u017ee will open the event, while Cichano\u016dskaja is expended to brief participants on the situation in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
