September 25, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d met heads of the North Korean and Cuban delegations on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24, the foreign ministry\u2019s press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a meeting with Kim Son-gyong, North Korean deputy foreign minister, the parties noted the \u201cqualitatively new level\u201d that relations between the two countries have reached over the past year, according to the statement. The diplomats reviewed the progress in implementing the agreements reached following Alaksanadr \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s official visit to North Korea earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The talks also focused on the opening of the Belarusian embassy in Pyongyang and the work of the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation. The sides reportedly agreed to step up efforts to finalize a visa waiver agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d reaffirmed Minsk\u2019s \u201cunwavering support\u201d for the \u201cbrotherly Cuban people\u201d as he met with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodr\u00edguez Parrilla. The Belarusian diplomat expressed concerns over the situation around Cuba, pledging continued humanitarian support to Havana, with another shipment of aid, including powdered milk and medicines, due to be delivered this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parties also agreed to continue supporting one another within the framework of international organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
