September 28, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has dismissed Andrej Dapkiunas, who had served as ambassador to Austria and Slovenia and Belarus\u2019 permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) since July 2022, his press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision was made as Dapkiunas reached retirement age, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomat has recently made a series of controversial anti-Ukrainian statements. Just four days ago, he blasted Ukraine and praised Russia at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dapkiunas accused Kyiv of \u201cbrutally reformatting the country\u2019s state identity contrary to its multinational and multidenominational nature\u201d after 2014, apparently referring to the Euromaidan revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv \u201cbased this identity on the idea of national exceptionality, the glorification of western Ukrainian nationalism and anti-Russian rhetoric,\u201d he claimed, calling it \u201cone of the important causes of the tragedy of modern Ukraine.\u201d Dapkiunas defended the Russian occupation of Ukraine, saying that \u201cnot a single country that respects itself can quietly watch this state anti-project on its border.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, attacking its neighbor from its own territory and from Belarus. Minsk continues to support Moscow\u2019s war of aggression against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
