September 30, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Romania\u2019s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) has opened a case into violations of the European Union\u2019s ban on the export of dual\u2011purpose products to Belarus, the agency said<\/a> on September 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to DIICOT, between December 2025 and September 2026, a number of individuals made preparations for supplying a VL40 vertical industrial lathe worth about \u20ac1.75 million to Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators say that steps had been taken to route the machine through intermediaries in third countries to a Belarusian organization, which is subject to the EU\u2019s restrictive measures. Hardware-software integration and technical modifications allegedly made the equipment suitable for military use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DIICOT has reportedly authorized \u201cthe continuation of criminal proceedings against eight suspects.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities sided with the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions, supplying weapons to Moscow and providing other kinds of assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of Belarusian industrial companies are reportedly manufacturing and supplying goods for Russia\u2019s war effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
