October 2, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Belarusian government has dissolved at least 2,078 NGOs, including associations, trade unions and foundations, between the 2020 presidential election and September 30, 2026, Lawtrend said in a recent report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of last month, at least 1,267 NGOs were in the process of dissolution ordered by authorities, and 811 filed for dissolution on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the organizations dissolved in August was the Religious Union of the Bah\u00e1’\u00eds in Belarus. At the same time, Lawtrend stressed that its statistics do not reflect the number of religious communities dissolved after Belarusian authorities refused to renew their state registration as part of their re-registration campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dozens of representatives of NGOs, including at least 20 representatives of labor unions and working people\u2019s organizations, are still behind bars, Lawtrend said. Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s recent edict governing the activities of healthcare charity foundations imposes additional restrictions on these organizations, the report said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least 99 NGOs were shut down in 2025, 382 in 2024 and 336 in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
