October 2, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Russian embassy in Minsk hosted a meeting at which the embassy\u2019s officer and the \u201cindustry and trade minister\u201d of the so-called Donetsk People\u2019s Republic (DNR) discussed the prospects of cooperation between the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine\u2019s Donetsk province and Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to embassy, the talks between its Minister\u2011Counsellor Piotr Frolov and the \u201cDNR\u201d\u2019s Gurgen Malkhasyan focused on the possibility of opening a multi-brand dealership and service center for Belarusian equipment in Donetsk, drawing Belarusian light industry companies to the \u201cDNR market,\u201d and establishing cooperation in the manufacture of mining and lifting machinery and in processing farm produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Issues of \u201ceconomic and humanitarian\u201d cooperation between the \u201cDNR\u201d and Belarus were also reportedly under discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No representatives of Belarus were apparently present at the meeting.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cDNR\u201d delegation is visiting Minsk to participate the Innoprom. Belarus exhibition, which was a dedicated stand for companies based in the occupied areas of the Donbas region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frolov is not a Belarusian official and cannot represent Minsk or make decisions on its behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the incorporation of Ukraine\u2019s Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson provinces into the Russia. A few days earlier, Russia said it had held referendums in occupied Ukrainian territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine, Western countries, and the UN have not recognized these decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus has not formally recognized the independence of Ukraine\u2019s occupied provinces and their incorporation into Russia, but Minsk has sided with Russia in its war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donetsk separatist leader Denis Pushilin has visited Belarus at least four times since 2022 and was received by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka in April 2023 and September 2024, with cooperation plans discussed on both occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
