October 7, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The number of reported crimes in Belarus fell by nearly 13 percent in 2025 and by more than 8 percent this year, Belarusian\u00a0Prosecutor General D\u017amitryj Hora\u00a0has told MPs in his annual report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus is recording its lowest crime rate in 30 years, but cybercrime is on the rise, accounting for 30 percent of all reported crimes this year, up from 27 percent in 2025, the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cybercrimes are committed using artificial intelligence and virtual phone exchanges that allow calls to be made from anywhere in the world while displaying Belarusian numbers, he noted, calling for the integration of cutting-edge technologies into law enforcement practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cybercrimes accounted for more than one-third of all crimes recorded in Belarus from January through May 2026, reaching 33.4 percent, the interior ministry said earlier. The share has been rising steadily in recent years, from 21.5 percent in 2023 to 27.5 percent in 2024 and 29.7 percent in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2026, Belarus recorded an average of 359 cybercrimes a week, or more than 50 a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities uncovered 1,500 crimes committed by public officials over the past 18 months, Hora added. Embezzlement and bribery reportedly accounted for the largest share of these crimes, with more than 1,200 people held accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
