October 8, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Belarus and Russia said in a joint statement to the UN General Assembly\u2019s First Committee that they are committed to the principles of the UN Charter, including sovereignty, territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement, delivered in New York on October 7 and cited by the Russian foreign ministry, slams NATO over the alliance\u2019s support for Ukraine, the development of the European missile defense system, the deployment of Western missiles in Europe, the expansion of military infrastructure near the Belarusian-Russian Union State, and NATO\u2019s \u201cnuclear sharing missions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement does not mention Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and the fact that Russia launched missile strikes on Ukraine from the Belarusian territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document also expresses opposition to any deployment of weapons in outer space and calls for strengthening global bans on biological and chemical weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia has repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons as it intensified its assault on Ukraine.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus and Russia call for creating a \u201csustainable architecture of equal and indivisible Eurasian security\u201d based on a \u201cEurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
