October 12, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) has revised its earlier forecast of Belarus economic growth to 2 percent from its previous estimate of 1.1 percent, says its recent report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The analysts attributed the move to strong domestic demand and increased investment activity in the second quarter of the year. Domestic consumption remains relatively strong and keeps driving economic growth, they added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government projects GDP to grow by 2.8 percent this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weak external demand and slowing domestic demand will would weigh on Belarus\u2019 economic growth over the medium term, the EFSD warned. While GDP growth is projected at 2 percent for 2026, growth is expected to be between 1 to 2 percent annually in 2027\u20132029, the report said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The slowdown will be accompanied by more moderate but relatively strong wage growth amid persistent labor market tightness. Wages are projected to rise by about 8 percent in 2026 and around 4 percent annually in 2027\u20132029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EFSD also raised its 2026 inflation forecast up to 5.2 percent from 4.8 percent, citing stronger domestic demand and a slight easing of price regulations. Inflation could accelerate to 6.4 percent in 2027 as disinflationary factors fade and strong domestic demand continues to push up prices, analysts warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
