October 13, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The European Union and 46 other countries issued a joint statement condemning Belarus\u2019 continued military support, which enables the Kremlin to sustain the illegal war of aggression against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document was adopted at the General Debate of the First committee of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signatories also condemned Russia’s continued attacks, killing civilians and destroying civilian sites, including critical energy infrastructure in Ukraine. Russia continues to undermine Ukraine\u2019s energy security ahead of winter, demonstrating Moscow\u2019s lack of interest in ending the war despite international efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Democratic countries urged Russia to agree to a complete and unconditional ceasefire as the first step towards peace that should guarantee Ukraine\u2019s long-term security and ability to defend itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and supplying arms to Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk continues to deny its role in the war. In his recent UN address, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d accused the \u201ccollective West\u201d of fueling wars and conflicts, claiming that the EU was \u201cattempting to undermine global stability and the maintenance of peace\u201d while portraying Belarus as a key contributor to peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
