October 16, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian state views a civil union \u2013 a relationship between two people without marriage \u2013 an \u201cexternally imposed\u201d value that poses a serious challenge and can lead to demographic problems, according to a new guideline for ideology workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll of this constitutes key threats to national security in many countries, including Belarus,\u201d the document says. Civil unions can reduce the level of mutual responsibility, leading to a rise in the number of divorces and an increase in the number of single-parent families that represent a \u201cfrightening reality,\u201d the guideline says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe cannot allow this to happen,\u201d it says, noting that all aspects of the demographic policy, including the support for families, protection of motherhood, fatherhood and childhood are under the constant supervision of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea that marriage and children are optional and difficult to reconcile with the self-centered lifestyle are popular on social media, yet the \u201cmindset of \u2018living for oneself,\u2019 which does not imply marriage or, consequently, having children cannot go unnoticed by the state,\u201d the guideline says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, \u0141uka\u0161enka signed into law legislation introducing fines for promoting homosexuality, gender transition and voluntary childlessness. UN experts warned that the move institutionalized discrimination and significantly heightened risks of repression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
