October 16, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarus\u2019 gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 2 percent year on year in January-September after a 1.9-percent increase in the first eight months of 2026, the National Statistics Committee (Bie\u0142stat) reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GDP shrank by 1.2 percent in January, remained down 1.2 percent in the first two months and was 0.4 percent lower in the first quarter. Belarus\u2019 economy resumed growth in the following months, rising 0.2 percent in January-April, 0.9 percent in January-May, 1.5 percent in the first half of 2026 and 2.1 percent in January-July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Belarus\u2019 economy grew by 1.3 percent, well below the government\u2019s target of 4.1 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government expects GDP to grow by 2.8 percent this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Monetary Fund forecasts Belarus\u2019 economy to grow by 1.9 percent in 2026, while the Eurasian Development Bank projects growth of 1.5 percent and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, 1.3 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development has recently revised its earlier forecast of Belarus economic growth to 2 percent from its previous estimate of 1.1 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
