October 19, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarus\u2019 construction companies commissioned housing totaling 2.7 million square meters in the first nine months of 2026, or 10.3 percent less than in the same period in 2025, according to Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> analysis of the National Statistical Committee\u2019s (Bie\u0142stat) data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 816,000 square meters were built using state subsidies for people in need of housing, down nearly 13 percent year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka ordered the government to reverse a downward trend in housing construction, stressing that housing loans should be available without bureaucratic delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As many as 542,000 households are waiting for better housing, while 6.5 million square meters of housing are to be built in 2026\u20132030, including 5 million square meters with state support, \u0141uka\u0161enka said last month. He also criticized officials for prioritizing construction targets over actual housing needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
