November 6, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Moldova may introduce a visa requirement for Belarusian citizens as part of preparations for becoming a member of the European Union, Prime Minister Vasily Tofan said in an interview with TV8<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to continue on the European path. I am not ready to give a date,\u201d Tofan said. He added that if EU regulations require Moldova to revise its visa rules, the country should make the decisions necessary to advance toward EU membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citing the European Commission\u2019s report, TV8 said<\/em> that Moldova has to bring its entry requirements for citizens of 11 countries, including Belarus and Russia, into conformity with the EU visa policy. Citizens of these countries may currently enter Moldova without visas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even under the existing visa-free regime, citizens of Belarus and Russia may be asked at the border to produce documents confirming the purpose of their visit. If they cannot do so, the border police may refuse them entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eighty-four citizens of Belarus and 561 citizens of Russia were reportedly denied entry into Moldova at Chi\u0219in\u0103u International Airport alone in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On November 1, Montenegro abolished visa-free travel for citizens of Belarus to align itself with the EU\u2019s visa policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
