Lithuania accuses Belarusian authorities of engineering the migrant crisis, while Minsk says&nbsp;that Lithuanian border guards mistreat migrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Border incidents have prompted Lithuanian, Latvian and Polish officials to discuss complete border closure with Belarus. Officials from the three countries are scheduled to meet on August 28 to discuss technicalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lithuanian border guards regularly record damage to the equipment at the border with at least 450 incidents in 2022 alone, Mi\u0161utis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, Lithuania recorded three attempts to destroy camera poles along with the damage to the border fence and barbed wire, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 22, Lithuanian border guards thwarted five illegal attempts to cross the border from Belarus with a total of 1,561 attempts reported since the start of 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August 23,&nbsp;BPN.&nbsp;Two persons crossed from Belarus on August 22 near the village of Kabeliai in Lithuania and cut down two camera poles damaging the video transmitting cable,&nbsp;Delfi&nbsp;reported citing a border patrol official.
