September 26,\u00a0Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has said that Russia and Belarus are building the Union State on the basis of “common cultural, spiritual and moral values” and strengthening integration “in all areas.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two countries are implementing 28 union programs in coordination, he said at a strategic meeting on humanitarian cooperation with Belarus, according to the Russian government’s press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two countries are jointly resisting “the sanction war, illegal trade and economic restrictions and powerful information pressure from the collective West” and should respond by accelerating integration and creating more opportunities for their citizens, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also highlighted the importance of building stronger ties in science and education, citing the success of a congress of young scientists from the two countries, “which was held in March at the National Academy of Sciences” of Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also addressed the challenges faced by Russian and Belarusian athletes due to “illegal sanctions” that limit their participation in many international competitions. “In this situation, we should more actively develop our own national platforms, launching formats with such alliances as the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS,” Mishustin said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1999, Russian President Boris Yeltsin and Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka signed a treaty to establish the Union State. It entered into force in January 2000 after ratification by the parliaments of the two countries. The deal is of unlimited duration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, Russia launched an upgrade of the Union State to bind the two countries together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In November 2021, Minsk and Moscow signed 28 Union State programs. They focus on macroeconomic, industrial and agricultural policies, tax and customs harmonization and a common energy market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
