September 21,\u00a0Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0The Belarusian military will hold a command and staff exercise with territorial defense forces from September 22 to 25 in the Mahilo\u016d region, the defense ministry has reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training will involve “officials from the region’s executive committees and military enlistment offices, as well as reservists from the Mahilo\u016d, Asipovi\u010dy and \u010cavusy districts” and “two units of the people’s volunteer corps.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The territorial defense forces will practice guarding and defending important facilities, enforcing martial law with people’s volunteer corps and fighting off sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the ‘enemy.’ This includes live-fire training of territorial artillery units at the Asipovicki range,” the ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also announced “bilateral complex exercises” from September 22 to 26 “at various ranges and terrain, mainly in the Brest, Hrodna and Minsk regions.” The goal is to “improve the preparedness of individual detachments’ military administration bodies to ensure continuous control of subordinate forces and means during combat operations.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine’s Joint Forces Commander Serhiy Nayev said that the Belarusian army’s maneuvers, which begin on September 22, “certainly do not pose a military threat, yet represent a certain danger.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Five firing ranges, aircraft and combined arms units will be involved… In return, we are also increasing our vigilance and preparing our forces for an adequate response. This is standard military practice,” the commander said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities in Minsk support Russia, which started a full-scale war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, but emphasize that the Belarusian army is not involved in the fighting.
