{"id":3069,"date":"2023-09-28T12:29:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T09:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=3069"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"ebrd-revises-upward-growth-forecast-for-belarus","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/3069\/","title":{"rendered":"EBRD revises upward growth forecast for Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>September 28,\u00a0<em>Pozirk<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong>Belarus&#8217; economy will grow by two percent in 2023 and by 1.3 percent in 2024, says the recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/news\/2023\/economic-growth-in-eastern-ebrd-regions-outpacing-that-of-emerging-europe.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">forecast<\/a>\u00a0by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarusian GDP rose by two percent year on year in the first half of 2023 following a deep recession in 2022, the analysts said, linking the growth to recovery in manufacturing, construction and retail trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the transport, IT and communication sectors continued to decline, the EBRD noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In January-June, exports increased by 12.4 percent year on year after a shift from the Western countries to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Imports soared by 22.6 percent reflecting the brisk domestic demand, the analysis says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the economic uncertainty &#8220;remains high,&#8221; the analysts added, noting the impact of Western sanctions on trade and logistical disruptions with the European Union that are affecting export-oriented and high-tech sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The modest economic rebound in the first half of the year is thus likely to be short-lived,&#8221; the EBRD concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, the EBRD said that the Belarusian economy would contract by one percent this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarus&#8217; economy grew by 3.1 percent in the first eight months of 2023, according to the official data.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September 28,\u00a0Pozirk.\u00a0Belarus&#8217; economy will grow by two percent in 2023 and by 1.3 percent in 2024, says the recent\u00a0forecast\u00a0by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
