September 1,\u00a0Pozirk<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong>Representatives of all countries that have diplomatic missions in Sweden and Norway will receive invitations to the Nobel Prize award ceremony, the Nobel Foundation\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0on August 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This approach would promote “opportunities to convey the important messages of the Nobel Prize to everyone, and in future, this practice will be common to the entire organization,” its press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is clear that the world is increasingly divided into spheres, where dialogue between those with differing views is being reduced,” said Vidar Helgesen, the foundation’s executive director. “To counter this tendency, we are now broadening our invitations to celebrate and understand the Nobel Prize and the importance of free science, free culture and free, peaceful societies.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian and Belarusian diplomats have been invited to the Nobel Prize banquet this year after missing the event in 2022 because of Russia’s war on Ukraine, Reuters <\/em>reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, jailed Belarusian human rights defender Ale\u015b Bialacki was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize together with Russia\u2019s Memorial and Ukraine\u2019s Center for Civil Liberties. The Nobel Foundation invited Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja to the award ceremony yet did not extend the invitations to the Russian and Belarusian envoys.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
