{"id":3682,"date":"2023-10-02T12:40:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-02T09:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=3682"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"belarus-authorities-open-criminal-case-against-bnr-rada","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/3682\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus&#8217; authorities open criminal case against BNR Rada"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 2,\u00a0<em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong>\u00a0The Prosecutor General&#8217;s Office has opened a criminal case against the leaders and members of the Rada of the Belarusian National Republic (BNR), Belarus&#8217; oldest government in exile, its press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Charges include conspiracy to seize the state power, creation of an extremist group and facilitating extremism, inciting hatred, the rehabilitation of Nazism, promoting the participation of Belarusians in an armed conflict abroad, and discrediting the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The activities of the Rada &#8220;are based on denial of the existence of the sovereign Belarusian state,&#8221; while its leader [Ivonka Survi\u0142a, 87] proclaims herself as &#8220;president,&#8221; prosecutors charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities accused the Rada leadership of cooperating with the exiled Belarusian opposition, &#8220;establishing ties with armed structures operating in Ukraine, which include Belarusian nationals&#8221; as well as awarding its own medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also claimed the Rada spread false data online regarding the political, economic, social, military and international situation of Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June, authorities blacklisted the Rada as an extremist group, while its symbols, website and social media were branded extremist content in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rada was formed in 1918 shortly before Belarus briefly declared independence from Russia during World War I and is now based in Canada.
