October 10,\u00a0Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Belarusian secret and intelligence services warned in their latest reports of the West’s plans to drive a wedge between\u00a0Belarus and Russia,\u00a0Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka told Andrei Travnikov, governor of Russia’s Novosibirsk province, at their meeting in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Here are the officers’ quotes: ‘It is not going to be quiet.’ They have not yet withdrawn from Ukraine, but they are already dreaming about cutting up the unity of Belarus and Russia,” \u0141uka\u0161enka said, according to his press office. “Everyone in the West, even those countries that seem not to care about the developments in and between Belarus and Russia. A stick there, a carrot here, they sweeten things to chip and split the officials, to tear them from the president \u2013 the old methods . . . All these statements are from September-October. So it will not be quiet. And we should try to do our own work.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this difficult situation, Belarus and Russia rely on “friendly countries,” but these countries have their own interests, he said. “So let us build and defend our own fatherland. That is the only way we have. And we can look normal. In five years, we will forget what is happening now. We will recover everything, even what we have lost. Do not even doubt it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He told Travnikov that Belarus “is very actively developing its relations with the countries of the outer arc” and offered the Russian governor “to enter the markets of these countries together.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They have a great demand for us. We discussed the matter in detail at our latest meeting with the Russian president. The Soviet Union, according to our experts on, say, Africa, at one time laid a huge foundation and basis for the continent’s current relations with the post-Soviet republics, especially with Belarus and Russia. They trust us more than anybody else. We should take advantage of that. We should promote our interests and support the development of African and Asian nations that have been waiting for us for a long time.
