The supervision of persons convicted of serious or especially serious crimes would be terminated no earlier than three years after their release from prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill sets out procedures for psychiatric tests for persons who committed crimes against minors. It would also allow judges to order compulsory treatment for convicted pedophiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In early March, Deputy Prosecutor General Alaksiej Stuk mentioned plans to introduce compulsory treatment for pedophiles. Chemical castration would be a &#8220;radical&#8221; but possible measure, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three months later, the interior ministry drafted the bill that apparently provides for chemical castration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarusian human rights defenders criticized the measure as a step towards cruel and degrading treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill has yet to be finalized and submitted to the lower house for the second and final reading.
