He is accused of \u201cincitement to social hatred\u201d and \u201cattempted murder of a policeman,\u201d the Viasna Human Rights Center reported. \u201cThe Ministry of Internal Affairs\u2019 main internal security directorate has identified a Telegram user who posted in an extremist Telegram chat in November 2020 calls for murder of police officers. In spite of the 53-year-old entrepreneur\u2019s secret&nbsp;lifestyle, the man was detained. He actively resisted the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs\u2019 special unit with an axe, which he had purchased supposedly to protect himself against wild animals,\u201d said a spokesperson for the interior ministry.<\/p>\n<p> A Hrodna kindergarten\u2019s 52-year-old security guard Valancin Dubro\u016d\u0161\u010dyk was detained for online comments about Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka, the Hrodna Regional Executive Committee\u2019s chairman, former Health Minister U\u0142adzimir Karanik and Russian soldiers, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n<p> Six villagers were detained in the Homiel region: Ludmi\u0142a Vicia\u017a, Nadzieja \u0160kuda, Alaksandr Chadko, Michai\u0142 Apanovi\u010d, Alaksiej Mar\u010danka, and one unidentified person. Pro-government sources say they \u201crepent\u201d of subscribing to \u201cextremist\u201d Telegram channels, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n<p> Mahilou resident Juryj Pa\u0161yn was detained for TikTok videos expressing support for Ukraine. Pro-government sources say he \u201crepented\u201d and \u201csupported\u201d Russian aggression, Mayday.team reported.<\/p>\n<p> <b>Criminal charges<\/b><\/p>\n<p> Former <span>Belsat TV<\/span> journalist Pavie\u0142 Ma\u017eejka, detained on August 31, has been transferred to Hrodna\u2019s Prison No 1, which means that a criminal case has been opened against him, a Belarusian state&nbsp;television channel reported.<\/p>\n<p> Jula Jurhilevi\u010d, a lawyer with 17 years of experience, has been transferred to a pre-trial detention center. She had left the country in February, but returned and was detained. She defended artist Ale\u015b Pu\u0161kin, musician Ihar Bancar, and other political prisoners. On February 23, she was expelled from the Hrodna Region Bar Association for \u201csystematic violations of law,\u201d Viasna reported.<\/p>\n<p> <b>Administrative proceedings<\/b><\/p>\n<p> Minsk lawyer U\u0142adzimir Anhielski was jailed&nbsp;for 14 days. He was arrested&nbsp;on August 31 and accused of defying police orders. He had worked with lawyer Vital Brahiniec, who was detained in May for participating in protests and has spent months in custody, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n<p> <b>Criminal proceedings<\/b><\/p>\n<p> The Minsk City Court rejected an appeal by&nbsp;the Flying University\u2019s program coordinator, social scientist Ta\u0107ciana Vada\u0142a\u017eskaja, against her&nbsp;two-and-a-half-year&nbsp;\u201crestricted freedom\u201d sentence for participation in post-election protests, <span>BPN <\/span>reported.<\/p>\n<p> The Minsk City Court sentenced Natalla Nikicina of Minsk\u2019s center for child psychiatry and psychotherapy to 22 months in prison, and fined&nbsp;her 6,400 rubles (some $2,500) for a post about the death of a KGB officer in a shootout. She is&nbsp;accused of insulting a state official and inciting social hatred.&nbsp;She was detained on September 29 at her workplace. A few hours earlier, Nikicina, a doctor with almost 30 years of experience, had been&nbsp;informed of her dismissal, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n<p> In the framework of the same case, 30-year-old Minsk resident Vital Roha\u010d was sentenced to two-and-a-half years\u2019 imprisonment and fined the same amount, Viasna reported. He commented about a KGB officer\u2019s death by writing: \u201cThe bandit will rest in concrete.\u201d <\/p>\n<p> Another defendant in the case, 32-year-old political prisoner Ivan Rahatnio\u016d, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n<p> Andrej \u015aciepa\u0144ko\u016d, a 41-year-old resident of Ili\u010d, Raha\u010do\u016d district, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison. He&nbsp;had been charged with inciting hatred and insulting state officials. He has been in custody since September 16, 2021, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n<p> Political prisoner Kanstancin Vyso\u010dyn, who worked as an architecture bureau\u2019s creative director, received three years of restricted freedom for participating in protests, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n<p> A prosecutor requested three&nbsp;years in prison&nbsp;for Mikita \u015alepianok, who administered culture and history channel <span>Rezystans<\/span> on the Telegram messaging app. He is accused of creating an extremist group, Viasna reported.<\/p>\n<p> <b>Charges in detention<\/b><\/p>\n<p> <span>Radyjo Svaboda<\/span> freelancer Andrej Ku\u017anie\u010dyk, who was sentenced to six years in a penal colony, has been transferred from a Mahilou prison to the penal colony in Navapolack. He was accused of creating an extremist group, Viasna Viciebsk reported.<\/p>\n<p> <b>Release<\/b><\/p>\n<p> Russian national Irina Vikholm, recognized as a political prisoner, has been released from prison after serving her sentence and deported with a 10-year entry ban, Viasna reported. She was sentenced to a year-and-a-half in prison for the \u201cdefamatory\u201d comment about Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka after the Ryanair aircraft incident: \u201c\u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s another crime: an act of state air piracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Human rights groups identified 1,323 political prisoners in Belarus in the morning of September 3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September 3, BPN.
