{"id":43633,"date":"2022-09-06T21:29:16","date_gmt":"2022-09-06T18:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/human-rights-defender-sentenced-to-15-years-in-anarchists-case\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"human-rights-defender-sentenced-to-15-years-in-anarchists-case","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/43633\/","title":{"rendered":"Human rights defender sentenced to 15 years in anarchists\u2019 case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>September 6, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> The Minsk City Court\u2019s Judge Siarhiej Chrypa\u010d has imposed lengthy prison sentences on two human rights defenders and eight anarchist activists, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports.<\/p>\n<p> Viasna\u2019s coordinator Marfa Rabkova was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and its volunteer Andrej \u010capiuk to six.<\/p>\n<p> The judge handed down 17 years on Alaksandr Franckievi\u010d, 16 years on Akichira Haje\u016dski-Chanada, 12 years on Alaksiej Ha\u0142a\u016dko, six years on Pavie\u0142 \u0160pietny, Mikita Draniec and Alaksandr Ka\u017alanka, and five years on Andrej Mara\u010d and Dani\u0142a \u010cul.<\/p>\n<p> The judge also punished the ten with hefty fines.<\/p>\n<p> They went on trial on April 25 behind closed doors, on charges widely seen as politically motivated, from creating an extremist organization to organizing riots and inciting hatred.<\/p>\n<p>Rabkova has been in custody since her arrest on September 17, 2020. The Investigative Committee said she and two other defendants created and headed \u201ca number of organized crime groups that had independently-led cells in Belarus\u2019 regions.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September 6, BPN.
