\n\t Arrests\n<\/p>\n
\n\t Authorities have not released human rights defender Anastasija \u0141ojka after her third consecutive 15-day jail term expired, Human Constanta reported. Her whereabouts remain unknown.\n<\/p>\n
\n\t Police arrested Anatol Puha\u010d in Baranavi\u010dy, Brest region, after he had returned from Poland for medical treatment, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.\n<\/p>\n
\n\t Andrej Kazialecki is under arrest in S\u0142onim, Hrodna region, for online comments, pro-government Telegram channels said.\n<\/p>\n
\n\t Police also arrested at least 15 people in Bras\u0142a\u016d, Viciebsk region, on December 7, Viasna reported.\n<\/p>\n
\n\t Criminal persecution\n<\/p>\n
\n\t Authorities accused \u0141arysa \u0160\u010dyrakova, a former journalist based in Homiel, of discrediting Belarus, BPN<\/span> reported. She stopped working as a journalist in 2021 and was into ethnographic photography in the last few months before her arrest on December 6.\n<\/p>\n \n\t Criminal proceedings\n<\/p>\n \n\t A court sentenced Vital Korsak from Baranavi\u010dy to two years in prison for insulting Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka and state symbols, Viasna said.\n<\/p>\n \n\t On December 12, the Minsk City Court started hearing a case against alleged administrators of Chernaya Kniga Belarusi<\/span> (Eng.: Black Book of Belarus), pro-government sources reported. The project exposed the identities of security officers who mistreated and brutalized peaceful protesters. D\u017amitryj Navo\u0161a, Janina Sazanovi\u010d, Valeryja Zaniamonskaja, Danii\u0142 Bahdanovi\u010d, and Volha Vysockaja are tried in absentia in so-called special proceedings targeting activists who live abroad and evade contact with investigators.\n<\/p>\n \n\t The Minsk Region Court sentenced Alaksandr Birula and his wife Ta\u0107ciana to six years in prison each, Siarhiej Pasiuk, to five years and a half; Aleh Ha\u016dry\u0142a\u016d, to ten years for publishing and distributing samizdat. Human rights groups consider them political prisoners. \n<\/p>\n \n\t Alaksandr Ada\u0161\u010dyk from Minsk was sentenced to three years of restricted freedom in home confinement for participating in protests, Viasna said.\n<\/p>\n \n\t Detention conditions\n<\/p>\n \n\t Andrej Raptunovi\u010d, currently serving four years in prison, was transferred to a detention center in Viciebsk pending his appeal, Viasna said.\n<\/p>\n \n\t The administration also transferred Hienad\u017a Smirno\u016d, serving a sentence of two years and six months at a penal colony in \u0160k\u0142o\u016d, Mahilo\u016d region, to the colony’s internal prison.\n<\/p>\n \n\t Anton Sta\u0161e\u016dski, who volunteered for the opposition Strana Dlia Zhizni Foundation, was transferred to Penal Colony No 15 in Mahilo\u016d to serve his eight-year prison term on charges of conspiracy to seize power.\n<\/p>\n \n\t Content branded extremist\n<\/p>\n \n\t Authorities blacklisted a local VKontakte group from \u017d\u0142obin, Homiel region, as extremist content.\n<\/p>\n \n\t Other instances of persecution\n<\/p>\n \n\t Ihar Kazmer\u010dak, the human rights defender and editor of Orsha.eu<\/span> news website who left Belarus, is now wanted in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for insulting \u0141uka\u0161enka, Viasna said.\n<\/p>\n \n\t Police are investigating over 200 Belarusians who left the country on suspicion of their involvement in Paspalitaje Ru\u0161e\u0144nie (Eng.: mass call-up) opposition defense initiative, the interior ministry said.
