{"id":44960,"date":"2022-12-18T20:22:09","date_gmt":"2022-12-18T17:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/bloggers-poet-released-after-spending-over-two-years-in-confinement\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"bloggers-poet-released-after-spending-over-two-years-in-confinement","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/44960\/","title":{"rendered":"Bloggers, poet released after spending over two years in confinement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>December 18, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> Authors of the <span>Narodnyy Reporter<\/span> YouTube channel Siarhiej Piatruchin and Alaksandar Kabana\u016d served their sentences and were released on December 17, \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja\u2019s aide Anatol Labied\u017aka said on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p> In a separate development on the same day, poet and beekeeper Miko\u0142a Papieka was released from prison after serving his sentence, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.<\/p>\n<p> Security forces arrested Kabana\u016d on June 15, 2020 in Brest. They came after Piatruchin on the next day near Puchavi\u010dy, Minsk region. Both were later charged over the May 29 incident in Hrodna, where blogger Siarhiej Cichano\u016dski and other dissidents were detained.<\/p>\n<p> On April 14, 2021 a district court in Mahilo\u016d found the duo guilty of organization of\/active participation in group actions grossly disturbing public order and insulting a government official. Piatruchin was also convicted of insulting a judge.<\/p>\n<p> Papieka was detained on December 1, 2020 in the Brest region\u2019s Pru\u017eany district. He was a suspect in the \u201cround dance case.\u201d On September 13, 2020 protesters had blocked the traffic at an intersection in Brest, singing songs and performing round dances.<\/p>\n<p> On June 8, 2021 the Brest District Court found Papieka guilty of grossly disturbing public order and sentenced him to two years of restricted freedom, a type of home confinement. In April 2022, a judge further limited his freedom by sending him to Mahilo\u016d\u2019s Penal Colony No. 15, where he was held until yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Human rights activists said the persecution of Piatruchin, Kabana\u016d and Papieka was politically motivated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 18, BPN.
