{"id":44974,"date":"2022-12-19T17:43:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-19T14:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/belarusian-russian-foreign-ministers-discuss-countering-sanctions\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"belarusian-russian-foreign-ministers-discuss-countering-sanctions","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/44974\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarusian, Russian foreign ministers discuss countering sanctions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>December 19, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> Belarusian Foreign Minister Siarhiej Alejnik and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov \u201cdiscussed in detail the topic of countering the West\u2019s illegal sanctions pressure\u201d at a meeting in Minsk on December 19, the Belarusian foreign ministry\u2019s press office reported.<\/p>\n<p> They \u201cemphasized the need to further advance Belarusian-Russian cooperation\u201d in the face of \u201cunprecedented external pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> The top diplomats discussed \u201cspecific issues relevant to the current agenda,\u201d such as trade and economic cooperation and the implementation of joint projects. <\/p>\n<p> They agreed to hold a joint board meeting between the ministries in the second half of January 2023. <\/p>\n<p> Siarhiej Alejnik was appointed foreign minister on December 13. His&nbsp;predecessor U\u0142adzimir Makiej&nbsp;suddenly died on November 26.<\/p>\n<p>On December 14, Lavrov sent Alejnik a congratulatory telegram saying that Minsk\u2019s diplomat had contributed significantly to Russian-Belarusian cooperation in his previous capacity of Makiej\u2019s first deputy.
