{"id":45135,"date":"2022-12-30T13:22:40","date_gmt":"2022-12-30T10:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/belapan-editor-in-chief-former-ceo-500-days-behind-bars\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"belapan-editor-in-chief-former-ceo-500-days-behind-bars","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/45135\/","title":{"rendered":"BelaPAN editor in chief, former CEO 500 days behind bars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>December 30, <span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b> <span>BelaPAN<\/span> editor in chief Iryna Le\u016d\u0161yna and former CEO D\u017amitryj Nava\u017ey\u0142a\u016d have spent 500 days behind bars.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Police arrested them on August 18, 2021.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t On October 6, the Minsk Regional Court sentenced Le\u016d\u0161yna to four years in prison; Nava\u017ey\u0142a\u016d, to six years; former deputy CEO Andrej Alaksandra\u016d, to 14 years; his wife Iryna Z\u0142obina, to nine years.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t On top of that, the judge fined Nava\u017ey\u0142a\u016d 22,400 rubels (some $8,900), Z\u0142obina 25,600 rubels and Alaksandra\u016d 32,000 rubels.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Authorities accused them of creating an extremist group (Alaksandra\u016d, Le\u016d\u0161yna, Nava\u017ey\u0142a\u016d), high treason (Alaksandra\u016d, Z\u0142obina), tax evasion (Alaksandra\u016d, Nava\u017ey\u0142a\u016d), and organization of protests (Alaksandra\u016d and Z\u0142obina). Human rights groups consider all four political prisoners.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The Supreme Court will hear their appeal on January 6, 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 30, BPN.
