{"id":45145,"date":"2022-12-30T21:42:01","date_gmt":"2022-12-30T18:42:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/licenses-of-nine-lawyers-revoked\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"licenses-of-nine-lawyers-revoked","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/45145\/","title":{"rendered":"Licenses of nine lawyers revoked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>December 30, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> The justice ministry reports that the licenses of nine lawyers have been revoked.<\/p>\n<p> On December 28, the licenses issued to Andrej Kamisara\u016d, Andrej Nieviado\u016dski and Jahor Papko\u016dski were terminated \u201cdue to disciplinary sanctions on the lawyers, such as their expulsion from territorial bar associations for offenses incompatible with the title of lawyer.\u201d <\/p>\n<p> Maryja Davyd\u010dyk, Siarhiej Kosma\u010d, Halina Mamo\u0144ka, Viktar Mackievi\u010d, U\u0142adzimir Pyl\u010danka and U\u0142adzimir Jahadzinski were deprived of their licenses because they couldn\u2019t perform their professional duties \u201cdue to lack of qualifications.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Pyl\u010danka defended political prisoners Maryja Kale\u015bnikava, Eduard Babaryka, Iryna S\u0142a\u016dnikava, Kaciaryna Andrejeva (Bachva\u0142ava), Lavon Cha\u0142atran and others.<\/p>\n<p> Mackievi\u010d defended political prisoners Siarhiej Cichano\u016dski, Ihar Alinievi\u010d, Akichira Haje\u016dski-Chanada, Ja\u016dhien Ju\u0161kievi\u010d, Viktar Babaryka and Ale\u015b Bialacki.<\/p>\n<p> On January 11, 2023 the Ministry of Justice would terminate the license issued to Alaksandr \u010cyrva, as he allegedly broke licensing law.<\/p>\n<p> Since the beginning of 2021, the ministry has revoked the licenses of at least 60 counsellors. About 100 law offices were shut down, and about 400 individual lawyers stopped practicing law.<\/p>\n<p> Pressure on the legal profession mounted after the 2020 election campaign. Lawyers virtually lost independence: since 2021, they can only work in legal consultancies, the heads of which are appointed in coordination with the justice ministry.
