September 9,\u00a0Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong>\u00a0The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) will complete its\u00a0probe against Belarusian Red Cross (BRC) chief D\u017amitryj \u0160a\u016dco\u016d in October, IFRC spokesman Tommaso Della Longa told Russia’s\u00a0TASS<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation is confidential but its outcome will be made public, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IFRC recommended that \u0160a\u016dco\u016d step down pending investigation, the official noted. However, two days ago the BRC unanimously voted for \u0160a\u016dco\u016d’s re-election as its chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 18, \u0160a\u016dco\u016d visited Donbas, a Ukrainian breakaway region currently held by Russia, confirming publicly that the BRC “has been, is and will be actively involved” in the transfers of Ukrainian children to Belarus for recuperation programs. The IFRC criticized the visit as harmful to the organization’s humanitarian efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba urged the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for \u0160a\u016dco\u016d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 20, the BRC chief appeared on the state-run ONT<\/em> TV channel, suggesting that Russia should consider launching nuclear strikes against Western countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natalla Pin\u010duk, the wife of Belarus’ imprisoned Nobel Prize winner Ale\u015b Bialacki, called on democratic nations to demand that the IFRC put an end to the “illegal activities” of its Belarusian branch, pointing to the \u0160a\u016dco\u016d’s involvement in what she described as “forced deportation” of children from Ukraine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
