Bailiffs&nbsp;collected 1.7 billion rubels ($648.85 million; a 16.6 percent rise in rubels from 2021) in fines and damages last year.<\/p>\n<p>The government&nbsp;also profited from politically motivated convictions. The Viasna Human Rights Center has data on 1,242 convictions delivered last year in politically motivated cases. More than 150 convicts were ordered to pay&nbsp;nearly 1.3 million&nbsp;rubels in penalties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 17, BPN.
