{"id":45421,"date":"2023-01-20T19:36:42","date_gmt":"2023-01-20T16:36:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/opposition-says-no-legal-obstacles-for-bringing-lukasenka-to-justice\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"opposition-says-no-legal-obstacles-for-bringing-lukasenka-to-justice","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/45421\/","title":{"rendered":"Opposition says no legal obstacles for bringing \u0141uka\u0161enka to justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>January 20, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> There are no legal obstacles for bringing Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka to justice, the opposition\u2019s foreign secretary Valer Kavale\u016dski has said.<\/p>\n<p> He was commenting on the European Parliament\u2019s January 19 resolution that called for an international tribunal to hold the Russian and Belarusian leaders&nbsp;accountable for the aggression against Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe issue of \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s and the regime members\u2019 accountability&nbsp;for crimes against humanity in respect to Belarusians has been the democratic forces\u2019 and the United Transition Cabinet\u2019s priority since the beginning,\u201d he said, as quoted by the opposition\u2019s press office. \u201c\u0141uka\u0161enka does not have international immunity because he is not the legitimate president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Kavale\u016dski stressed that since Russia invaded Ukraine, \u0141uka\u0161enka and the regime members have been involved in war crimes. \u201cWe welcome the European Parliament\u2019s resolution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the opposition will continue to work with international partners to make sure the tribunal takes place. \u201cThis important step demonstrates that the European Union\u2019s main legislative body has a consolidated position on \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s role in the war,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 20, BPN.
