{"id":45478,"date":"2023-01-25T15:47:23","date_gmt":"2023-01-25T12:47:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/belarus-mps-pass-civil-society-all-belarusian-peoples-assembly-bills\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"belarus-mps-pass-civil-society-all-belarusian-peoples-assembly-bills","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/45478\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus\u2019 MPs pass civil society, All-Belarusian People&#8217;s Assembly bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>January 25, <span>BPN<\/span>. <\/b>The House of Representatives has passed bills concerning nonprofits, the Electoral Code and the All-Belarusian People&#8217;s Assembly on second reading, the lower chamber&#8217;s press office reported.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Constitutional amendments adopted in February 2022 refer to the All-Belarusian People&#8217;s Assembly as &#8220;the supreme representative body of democracy,&#8221; setting &#8220;strategic directions of development&#8221; and ensuring &#8220;the inviolability of the constitutional system.&#8221; It is to be formed of up to 1,200 delegates with a five-year mandate and convene at least once a year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The civil society bill would govern non-governmental organizations\u2019 relationship with the government, the House of Representatives said. Earlier, human rights defenders warned that it would establish a hierarchy of NGOs depending on their attitude toward authorities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The amendments to the Electoral Code are designed to bring it in line with the updated constitution and other laws.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The bills have yet to be approved by the upper chamber of the Belarusian National Assembly and signed into law by Alaksandr Luka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 25, BPN.
