It is aimed to support \u201c\u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime repression against the people of Belarus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cDarja \u0141osik was sentenced to two years in prison for defending her husband in interviews against fabricated accusations and for appealing to \u0141uka\u0161enka on her husband\u2019s innocence,\u201d he added. &#8220;Every day there are new examples in Belarus of arbitrary and cruel sentences in political trials held behind closed doors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThis inhuman treatment of Belarusian citizens must stop. The EU reiterates its demand for immediate release of political prisoners,\u201d Stano said.<\/p>\n<p> On January 19, the Brest Regional Court sentenced \u0141osik to two years in prison after finding&nbsp;her guilty of promoting extremism. The Prosecutor General\u2019s Office said she gave an interview to Belsat, a television channel declared extremist, \u201cin which she positioned herself as a political prisoner\u2019s wife.\u201d She was arrested in October 2022.<\/p>\n<p> In December 2021, her husband, <span>RFE\/RL<\/span> contributor Ihar \u0141osik, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for alleged sedition&nbsp;and mass riots.<\/p>\n<p>The \u0141osiks have a four-year-old daughter.
