So far, Belarus has not recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and we will do everything possible to maintain this status quo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Previously, the Georgian foreign ministry criticized Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s meeting with Aslan Bzhania, the ruler of Gerogia\u2019s breakaway region of Abkhazia.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThis action blatantly violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders and represents an attempt to legitimize the Russian occupation regime,\u201d the ministry said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p> The foreign ministry called on Minsk \u201cto cease taking the actions, which contradict the fundamental principles and norms of international law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u0141uka\u0161enka and Bzhania met in Minsk on February 21, with the Belarusian leader saying that Georgia was \u201cfor some reason\u201d reacting strongly to the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that the Belarusian-Abkhazian relationship \u201ccan promote peace and friendship between the Abkhazian and Georgian peoples.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 22, BPN.
