{"id":45875,"date":"2023-02-27T14:08:58","date_gmt":"2023-02-27T11:08:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/eu-stops-119-illegal-migrants-at-belarus-border\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"eu-stops-119-illegal-migrants-at-belarus-border","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/45875\/","title":{"rendered":"EU stops 119 illegal migrants at Belarus border"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<b>February 27, <span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b> The EU has not allowed 119 migrants to enter illegally from Belarus over the past day.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The Lithuanian State Border Guard Service has not reported any attempts by migrants to cross the Belarusian-Lithuanian border for nine consecutive days, but their Latvian colleagues thwarted nine attempts on February 26.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The Polish Border Guard <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Straz_Graniczna\/status\/1630110700860219392\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">said<\/a> that 110 foreigners, including nationals of Afghanistan, Ghana, Egypt, Congo, Syria and Sudan tried to illegally cross the border from Belarus.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Since the start of 2023, the EU has recorded a total of 3,877 attempts by illegal migrants to enter its territory, with 2,805 attempts via Poland, 715 via Latvia and 357 via Lithuania.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The migration crisis at the Belarusian-EU border dates back to the spring of 2021. It escalated in November 2021 when thousands of migrants set up a camp near the Polish border. The Baltic states and Poland accused Belarusian authorities of creating the trouble, while the latter blamed it on the West.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Migration figures had dropped significantly by the time Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, but have risen more recently.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 27, BPN.
