{"id":45900,"date":"2023-02-28T20:35:03","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T17:35:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/supreme-court-throws-out-rebels-appeal-against-sentence\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"supreme-court-throws-out-rebels-appeal-against-sentence","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/45900\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court throws out rebels\u2019 appeal against sentence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>February 28, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> The sentence of Bus\u0142y Lacia\u0107 activists has come&nbsp;into force, the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office reported.<\/p>\n<p> The Supreme Court rejected their appeal against sentence on February 28.<\/p>\n<p> On September 28, the Minsk City Court handed down lengthy prison sentences to six activists of the protest group that repeatedly claimed responsibility for acts of sabotage against the Belarusian regime.<\/p>\n<p> Judge Anastasija Papko found them guilty of intentional damage to property and other crimes, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.<\/p>\n<p> The state accused them of damaging a Barysa\u016d district judge\u2019s car: they supposedly splashed&nbsp;paint on it and punctured its tires on March 4, 2021.<\/p>\n<p> It also charged the Bus\u0142y Lacia\u0107 members with throwing a stone at a prosecutorial worker\u2019s window, destroying a video surveillance system in Minsk and similar offenses. Law enforcers arrested them in late September and early October 2021.<\/p>\n<p> Andrej Budaj received 15 years in prison and a fine; Alaksej Hamieza, 14.5 years and a fine; Alaksiej Ivanisa\u016d, 14 years and a fine; Alaksandr Mura\u016djo\u016d, 12 years; Mika\u0142aj Biblis, eight and a half years and a fine; and Alaksandr Sidarenka, eight years.<\/p>\n<p>Human rights groups consider them political prisoners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 28, BPN.
