{"id":46299,"date":"2023-03-30T16:51:10","date_gmt":"2023-03-30T13:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/rights-groups-label-10-as-political-prisoners-bringing-total-to-new-record\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"rights-groups-label-10-as-political-prisoners-bringing-total-to-new-record","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/46299\/","title":{"rendered":"Rights groups label 10 as political prisoners, bringing total to new record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>March 30, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> The Belarusian human rights community has labeled 10 more people as political prisoners, the Viasna center reports.<\/p>\n<p> They are: Arciom Babko\u016d, Alaksandra Kasko, Valeryj Cima\u0161enka, Jaras\u0142a\u016d Kazakievi\u010d, D\u017amitryj Ka\u010dano\u016dski, Ksienija Alkienava, Juryj Adama\u016d, Mika\u0142aj Vasilevi\u010d, D\u017amitryj S\u0142uk, and Viktar Za\u0142atare\u016dski<\/p>\n<p> They were locked up for interviews with banned&nbsp;media, sharing information about Russian troops with opposition&nbsp;Telegram channels, financing&nbsp;activities deemed by authorities terrorist and extremist, or taking part in such activities.<\/p>\n<p> Human rights activists issued a joint statement demanding the immediate release of all political prisoners and those arrested for peaceful protests in the post-election period, and an end to political reprisals against citizens.<\/p>\n<p> Besides Viasna, the statement was signed by Pravavaja Inicyjatyva, Lawtrend, Belarusian PEN, Belarusian Association of Journalists, Office for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and Barys Zvozska\u016d Human Rights House.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 1,476 political prisoners have been registered in Belarus. The number stands at a record high, but the real figure must be even higher because, according to activists, some political detainees cannot contact them, or do not want to for fear of repercussions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>March 30, BPN.
