{"id":46309,"date":"2023-03-31T12:14:58","date_gmt":"2023-03-31T09:14:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/eu-stops-138-illegal-migrants-at-belarus-border\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"eu-stops-138-illegal-migrants-at-belarus-border","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/46309\/","title":{"rendered":"EU stops 138 illegal migrants at Belarus border"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>March 31, <span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b> The EU has not allowed 138 migrants to enter illegally from Belarus over the past day.<\/p>\n<p> The Lithuanian State Border Guard Service <a href=\"https:\/\/vsat.lrv.lt\/lt\/naujienos\/neileistu-neteisetu-migrantu-statistika\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">reported<\/a> that it thwarted five attempts&nbsp;in the Lithuanian-Belarusian border area on March 30, while their Latvian colleagues foiled&nbsp;28 attempts.<\/p>\n<p> The Polish Border Guard <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Straz_Graniczna\/status\/1641688708746190848\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">said<\/a> that 105 foreigners, including nationals of Iraq and Syria, tried to illegally cross the border from Belarus.<\/p>\n<p> Since the start of 2023, the EU has recorded a total of 7,333 attempts by illegal migrants to enter its territory, with 5,427 attempts via Poland, 1,294 via Latvia and 612 via Lithuania.<\/p>\n<p> The migration crisis at the Belarusian-EU border dates back to the spring of 2021. It escalated in November 2021 when thousands of migrants set up a camp near the Polish border. The Baltic states and Poland accused Belarusian authorities of creating the trouble, while the latter blamed it on the West.<\/p>\n<p> Migration figures had dropped significantly by the time Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, but have risen more recently.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>March 31, BPN.
