{"id":46324,"date":"2023-04-01T01:46:30","date_gmt":"2023-03-31T22:46:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/cichanouskaja-calls-on-un-security-council-to-prevent-deployment-of-nukes-in-belarus\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"cichanouskaja-calls-on-un-security-council-to-prevent-deployment-of-nukes-in-belarus","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/46324\/","title":{"rendered":"Cichano\u016dskaja calls on UN Security Council to prevent deployment of nukes in Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>April 1, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> Opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has called on the UN Security Council to prevent the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus, her press office reports. <\/p>\n<p> \u201cWe urge the international community to demand from Russia to stop this threatening deployment and impose adequate and severe sanctions on the regimes of \u0141uka\u0161enka and Putin as outright threats to international peace and security,\u201d she said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/tsikhanouskaya.org\/en\/events\/news\/c8674cdbf66066d.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">letter<\/a> on March 31.<\/p>\n<p> Cichano\u016dskaja also called on the world \u201cto demand the withdrawal of the Russian military from Belarus and to cease Belarus\u2019 participation in the Russian aggression against Ukraine\u201d and supported \u201cthe demand of Ukraine to strip the Russian Federation of the UNSC permanent member status.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThis should be just one of many acts in holding Russia accountable for its crime of aggression and war crimes in Ukraine and for repeatedly failing to meet its special responsibility in this Security Council,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p> The former presidential candidate said that \u201c\u0141uka\u0161enka is a growing threat to international peace and security\u201d and that Belarus \u201chas an essential role and place for the regional security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> The letter to the UN Security Council president was shared with its members ahead of the March 31 discussion of Putin\u2019s plan to station nuclear arms in Belarus.<\/p>\n<p> Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with the <span>Rossiya 24<\/span> TV channel on March 25 that a special storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus would be completed by July 1.
