The chairman of the Republican Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Alaksandr \u0160viec, vouched for \u0141ojka.<\/p>\n<p> The fine was handed down by Judge Valancina Ziankievi\u010d.<\/p>\n<p> On March 17, authorities sentenced Tut.by editor in chief Maryna Zo\u0142atava and CEO Ludmi\u0142a \u010cekina to 12 years in prison. \u0141ojka, Ta\u0142ka\u010dova and legal adviser Kaciaryna Tka\u010denka did not show up for the hearing because they had fled Belarus.<\/p>\n<p> Authorities arrested 15 Tut.by employees in May 2021. All except \u010cekina and Zo\u0142atava were released from custody after agreeing to cooperate with investigators, according to the Investigative Committee.<\/p>\n<p> \u010cekina, Zo\u0142atava, \u0141ojka and Ta\u0142ka\u010dova were accused of tax evasion, inciting hatred and calling for sanctions; Tka\u010denka, of tax evasion and participation in protests.<\/p>\n<p> Tut.by team left Belarus in July 2021 to launch <span>Zerkalo.io<\/span>, a news website that largely follows in the footsteps of the original media outlet. Belarus and Russia have blocked access to the website. On top of that, Belarus declared it extremist content.<\/p>\n<p> In June 2022, the Minsk Economic Court designated Tut By Media as an extremist organization, banning its activities in Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2022, the Committee for State Security (KGB) added Zo\u0142atava, \u010cekina, \u0141ojka and Ta\u0142ka\u010dova to its list of &#8220;individuals and entities involved in terrorist activities.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>April 10, BPN.
