{"id":46504,"date":"2023-04-13T23:56:30","date_gmt":"2023-04-13T20:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/journalist-pratasievic-charged-with-two-counts-of-extremist-group-leadership\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"journalist-pratasievic-charged-with-two-counts-of-extremist-group-leadership","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/46504\/","title":{"rendered":"Journalist Pratasievi\u010d charged with two counts of extremist group leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>April 13, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> Authorities brought heavier charges against journalist&nbsp;Raman Pratasievi\u010d currently being tried at&nbsp;the Minsk Regional Court on April 13, <span>RIA Novosti<\/span> reported. <\/p>\n<p> Jan Rudzik, another defendant in the <span>NEXTA<\/span> case, also faces heavier charges.<\/p>\n<p> While the charge of providing rioters with training and material support was dropped against \u015aciapan Puci\u0142a, Pratasievi\u010d and Rudzik last week,&nbsp;Pratasievi\u010d and Rudzik were charged with two counts of&nbsp;leading extremist&nbsp;groups, <span>NEXTA <\/span>and&nbsp;<span>Belarus Golovnogo Mozga<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said that Pratasievi\u010d led&nbsp;<span>NEXTA, <\/span>a Telegram messenger channel, in 2020, and later was in charge of&nbsp;<span>Belarus Golovnogo Mozga,<\/span>&nbsp;another channel on Telegram and other&nbsp;social media.<\/p>\n<p>Rudzik allegedly worked for&nbsp;<span>NEXTA<\/span> from June 2021 to May 2022, after Pratasievi\u010d&#8217;s detention,&nbsp;and then led <span>Belarus Golovnogo Mozga<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p> Pratasievi\u010d and other defendants are charged with at least&nbsp;11 crimes. <\/p>\n<p> The trial has been adjourned until April 19 to let Pratasievi\u010d familiarize himself with the new accusation.<\/p>\n<p> The Minsk Regional Court started considering the <span>NEXTA <\/span>case&nbsp;on February 16. Poland-based Puci\u0142a and Rudzik are being tried in absentia. Pratasievi\u010d is under house arrest in Belarus, as he &#8220;fully complied with the terms of his pre-trial cooperation agreement.&#8221; He was present at the first hearing and pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n<p> When sending the criminal case to court, the Prosecutor General&#8217;s Office said&nbsp;defendants should pay the state 30 million rubels (some $11.9 million) to compensate for property damage.<\/p>\n<p> Raman Pratasievi\u010d and Russian national Sofya Sapega were arrested after the forced landing of a Ryanair flight in Minsk in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>On May 6, 2022, the Hrodna Regional Court sentenced Sapega to six years in prison.
