{"id":46527,"date":"2023-04-16T12:45:24","date_gmt":"2023-04-16T09:45:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/nine-defendants-in-tut-by-case-pardoned\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"nine-defendants-in-tut-by-case-pardoned","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/46527\/","title":{"rendered":"Nine defendants in Tut.by case pardoned"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>April 16, <span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b> Authorities have pardoned nine defendants in the <span>Tut.by<\/span> case following a request for pardon filed in December 2022, Hoster.by CEO Siarhej Pavali\u0161a\u016d said on Facebook.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Hoster.by provider is one of the projects by the late <span>Tut.by<\/span> founder Juryj Zisser.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t All pardoned defendants were accused of tax evasion and asked authorities to drop criminal charges against them, <span>Zerkalo.io<\/span> reported. They also pleaded guilty and compensated the alleged damages, the Prosecutor General&#8217;s Office said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t In May 2021, police raided <span>Tut.by<\/span> offices and arrested 15 journalists. All except editor in chief Maryna Zo\u0142atava and CEO Ludmila \u010cekina were released later after agreeing to cooperate with investigators.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Authorities charged <span>Tut.by<\/span> management with large-scale tax evasion for allegedly generating revenue from activities not permitted for Hi-Tech Park residents.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t On March 17, the Minsk City Court sentenced&nbsp;Zo\u0142atava and \u010cekina to 12 years in prison on charges of inciting hatred, calling for sanctions and tax evasion. Former&nbsp;<span>Tut.by<\/span>&nbsp;editor Volha \u0141ojka, journalist Alena Ta\u0142ka\u010dova and lawyer Kaciaryna Tka\u010denka did not show up for&nbsp;the trial and are now on the wanted list.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n <span>Tut.by<\/span> team left Belarus in July 2021 to launch&nbsp;<span>Zerkalo.io<\/span>, a news website that largely follows in the footsteps of the original media outlet. Belarus and Russia have blocked access to the website. On top of that, Belarus declared it extremist content.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn June 2022, the Minsk Economic Court designated Tut By Media as an extremist organization, banning its activities in Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t &nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>April 16, BPN.
