{"id":46703,"date":"2023-05-03T12:51:28","date_gmt":"2023-05-03T09:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/belarus-down-four-places-in-rsfs-press-freedom-ranking\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"belarus-down-four-places-in-rsfs-press-freedom-ranking","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/46703\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus down four places in RSF\u2019s press freedom ranking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>May 3, <span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b> Belarus ranks 157th of 180 assessed countries and territories in the 2023 World Press Freedom Index, compiled by Reporters Without Borders (RSF).\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t In 2022, Belarus ranked 153rd somewhat improving its position due to the changed RSF&#8217;s methodology.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t &#8220;The 2023 Index spotlights the rapid effects that the digital ecosystem\u2019s fake content industry has had on press freedom,&#8221; the report says noting that respondents in 118 countries reported systematical involvement of political actors in massive disinformation or propaganda campaigns.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t &#8220;The difference is being blurred between true and false, real and artificial, facts and artifices, jeopardizing the right to information,&#8221; the RSF stressed.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The world\u2019s 10 best countries for press freedom are Norway, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Portugal, and Timor-Leste.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Bahrain, Cuba, Myanmar, Eritrea, Syria, Turkmenistan, Iran, Vietnam, China and North Korea conclude the ranking with the worst press freedom score.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t On May 3, World Press Freedom Day, 33 media workers remain behind bars in Belarus, according to the Belarusian Association of Journalists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>May 3, BPN.
