{"id":46960,"date":"2023-05-23T19:51:26","date_gmt":"2023-05-23T16:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/belarus-foreign-minister-says-sanctions-hurt-development-goals\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"belarus-foreign-minister-says-sanctions-hurt-development-goals","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/46960\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus foreign minister says sanctions hurt development goals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>May 23, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> Belarusian Foreign Minister Siarhiej Alejnik has told the outgoing UN resident coordinator in Belarus that sanctions threaten the world\u2019s progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n<p>Alejnik told Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki that&nbsp;Belarus intends to keep implementing the 2030 Agenda despite \u201cnegative trends\u201d that endanger the SDGs of&nbsp;many nations, including \u201csanctions and unilateral coercive measures,\u201d the foreign office reported.<\/p>\n<p> The 2030 Agenda is a plan that the United Nations and its member countries have agreed to follow to make the world a better place for everyone.<\/p>\n<p> The United States and its allies have imposed sanctions on Belarus because they do not agree with how the government there treats its people and its neighbors. <\/p>\n<p> Pro-government media reported earlier this month that UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres invited Belarusian ruler Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka to the SDG summit in New York. \u0141uka\u0161enka has&nbsp;not confirmed his attendance, but said that Belarus would be represented \u201cat a worthy level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The office of \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja, a Belarusian opposition leader, has presented an alternative report on Belarus\u2019 SDG implementation to UN diplomats in July 2022.
