{"id":47044,"date":"2023-05-29T23:48:04","date_gmt":"2023-05-29T20:48:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/belarusian-parliament-members-lose-lawsuits-against-eu-sanctions\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"belarusian-parliament-members-lose-lawsuits-against-eu-sanctions","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/47044\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarusian parliament members lose lawsuits against EU sanctions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>May 29, <span>BPN.<\/span> <\/b>The European Court of Justice has dismissed lawsuits by two Belarusian lawmakers who challenged their inclusion in the EU sanctions list over human rights violations.<\/p>\n<p> The court dismissed the suits by \u015aviat\u0142ana Lubieckaja and Alaksandr Amieljaniuk last week as&nbsp;\u201cunfounded\u201d and ordered them to pay the litigation fees for&nbsp;the Council of the European Union.<\/p>\n<p> The lawmakers claimed the entry bans and asset freezes&nbsp;were unfair and excessive.<\/p>\n<p> The court said they were responsible for serious abuses of human rights, democracy and the rule of law as members of the lower house of parliament.<\/p>\n<p> It said the sanctions were intended&nbsp;to force&nbsp;Belarusian leader&nbsp;Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka to stop his oppressive policies.<\/p>\n<p>The EU imposed the sanctions on Lubieckaja and Amieljaniuk in&nbsp;June 2021.
