In the past he had served as commander of the paratroopers and participated in the Soviet-Afghanistan war.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The KGB reportedly recruited him at the start of Russia&#8217;s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 to collect data on the defense of Ukraine&#8217;s northern borders and track the routes of military equipment movements. Since then, he carried out reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine, the SBU said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t In November 2022, another man who said he worked for the Belarusian secret services surrendered to the Ukrainian army during a counterattack in the Kharkiv region. His name and details of his work for the Belarusian special services were not disclosed.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t On April 4, KGB chief Ivan Tertel boasted of arrests of dozens of Ukrainians in Belarus for &#8220;terrorist attempts, reconnaissance and espionage activities.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>June 2, BPN.
