{"id":47125,"date":"2023-06-05T12:10:49","date_gmt":"2023-06-05T09:10:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/health-official-says-lack-of-supplies-poor-logistics-cause-delays-in-joint-replacements\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"health-official-says-lack-of-supplies-poor-logistics-cause-delays-in-joint-replacements","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/47125\/","title":{"rendered":"Health official says lack of supplies, poor logistics cause delays in joint replacements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>June 5, <span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b> Shortage of materials and disrupted supply routes have caused delays in endoprosthesis surgeries in Belarus, deputy health minister Juryj Horbi\u010d told <span>ONT<\/span> TV channel in an interview broadcast on Sunday evening.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The comments come weeks after Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka instructed Minister of Health D\u017amitryj Pinievi\u010d to treat over 13,000 patients waiting a joint replacement operation before the end of the year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n <span>ONT<\/span> would not comment on an any link between the waiting list and last year\u2019s crackdown on surgeons.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Wait times have increased dramatically after law enforcers arrested 35 orthopedic surgeons for allegedly taking bribes from private suppliers of implants.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t All were released at Pinievi\u010d\u2019s request after spending a week or longer in detention, but the surgeons were transferred to other hospitals, not specializing in joint replacement, in punishment.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t &#8220;We don&#8217;t know what really happened,&#8221; doctor U\u0142adzimir Marta\u016d told <span>BPN<\/span>. &#8220;Details [of the case] remain unclear except for the sweeping accusations on TV [reported last year]. People were held in custody for a while and now they are paying some money [in damages and fines]. No trials, no verdicts, no public discussion.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Belarus has only about fifty doctors qualified to perform complex joint replacement surgeries, Marta\u016d said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>June 5, BPN.
