{"id":47164,"date":"2023-06-07T13:48:47","date_gmt":"2023-06-07T10:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/case-file-against-cameraman-padabied-sent-to-court\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"case-file-against-cameraman-padabied-sent-to-court","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/47164\/","title":{"rendered":"Case file against cameraman Padabied sent to court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>June 7, <span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b> Prosecutors have sent their case against jailed journalist Pavie\u0142 Padabied to the Minsk City Court, the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) reported.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The prosecutors accuse him of being a member of an extremist group and have extended his pretrial detention until June 26, it added.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Padabied braces for a guilty verdict and is determined to appeal to a higher court, the BAJ said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The asset freeze order for the journalist&#8217;s car says that it might be seized in connection with his participation in 2020 protests but it remains unclear whether it was included in the charges.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The journalist was arrested in Minsk on January 20, one day before his planned trip abroad.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t After his arrest, pro-government media published a picture of Padabied&#8217;s press card from the days when he worked at the now-defunct <span>BelaPAN<\/span> media company.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t He was first sentenced to 15 days in jail for sharing opposition content and then charged with facilitating extremist activities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Padabied refused to testify during the investigation.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The BAJ said that he is one of 33 media workers behind bars in Belarus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>June 7, BPN.
